Signal Generator
The Maxcom MX-RFSG1800 signal generator is a simple low-cost device used to inject RF signals up to 1800 MHz into RF plant for the purpose of verifying those high frequencies are able to properly pass-through cables, passive and active devices. Used for a variety of situations from troubleshooting, performance testing, validating end-of-line levels. These units are versatile, low-cost and compact with rechargeable batteries making them an ideal tool for test and measurement.

The MX-RFSG1800 is a Compact Portable Signal and Sweep Generator. This small, handy and inexpensive device can be carried by every technician. It presents a fast and simple tool for creating RF test signals. Commonly used by CATV field and headend technicians where systems are beginning to upgrade their RF plant to 1000 MHz, 1200 MHz and even 1800 MHz.
The device is a highly integrated RF signal/sweep generator specifically designed for Cable Telecommunication Technicians working in the HFC environment. Its small size, portability and battery power can easily assist the technician to quickly identify network issues when performing network bandwidth upgrades, equipment, or plant performance and proofing.
By injecting this signal source into the plant with this device, it allows the user to insert RF signals at higher frequencies (up to 1800 MHz). This allows the technician the opportunity to verify and validate the coax and passives downstream are capable of properly passing higher frequencies.
This allows the technician to “Proof” the network by recording the signal performance at the end of line. The device also provides an excellent solution for troubleshooting missed or defective network equipment, anomalies such as “roll-off”, and other signal ailments and impairments.

Picture Below Illustrates a Sample of what a technician might encounter. In this Example, the signal generator is used to insert signals between 750 MHz to 1200 MHz (signal levels are flat at injection point) but shows the signal rolling of at higher frequencies when measured downstream.
